Harnessing the Elements

This Newrybar home was a collaboration between client and architect, and a wonderful project overall.

The eco-friendly design maximises the views and cleverly uses the prevailing winds of the Byron Bay Hinterlands so the home can work with nature and apply sustainability principles. Residents enjoy the flexibility of being able to open their home for fresh air on mild days or close it for protection from the elements.

This client wanted a family home where they could enjoy living inside and outside comfortably.

Outdoor living spaces were high on the list of priorities for this house in Newrybar. They were cleverly incorporated into the design.

This client wanted a family home where they could enjoy living inside and outside comfortably.

Outdoor living spaces were high on the list of priorities for this house in Newrybar. They were cleverly incorporated into the design.

Our solution

The architectural process resulted in an elongated home, designed to get the most out of the breathtaking views from many rooms. Sleeping zones are separate, allowing the clients respite when their grandchildren and extended family come to stay. There is a generous undercover outdoor area, giving the home a second living room with a Mediterranean summer feel.
